The bulk of our money comes from central government, via Cambridgeshire County Council, in the form of a block grant. This takes account of the number of pupils and a variety of demographic and other factors.
The funding formula is constantly changing and historically schools in Cambridgeshire have not been funded as well as schools in other parts of the country.
The Pupil Premium is designed to ensure that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. The funding is allocated to local authorities and schools with pupils from Reception to Year 11 who are currently eligible for free school meals (FSM), who have been eligible in the past 6 years, are looked after, or have parents currently in the Armed Forces.

From September 2013 the government provided specific funding to improve the breadth and quality of PE and sport provision in primary schools.
Schools are free to determine how best to use the funding to improve PE and sport provision, including increasing participation so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
