Reception - Acorn Class

Class teacher Mrs Emma Rapley

Class Overview

Welcome to Acorn Class. We can be found busily learning near the main entrance to the school in Room 1. We have 21 children in our class and two adult helpers each day. Mrs Cridland is with us in the morning and Mrs Tarring works with us in the afternoon. Our class teacher is Mrs Rapley and she teaches us from Monday to Thursday. Mrs Victor works with the class on a Friday when Mrs Rapley is preparing for the next week's learning.

Life in Acorn Class

Each day we all embark on an exciting learning journey in Acorn Class, which stimulates and grows our  love of learning. We enjoy sharing this journey with our friends and teachers alike and new experiences both from school and home are celebrated and discussed with great enthusiasm. P.E. lessons are every Tuesday and Friday. Reading and library books will be changed on a Friday. We kindly ask that the children's reading books come to school daily. Our Reception newsletter comes home every Friday afternoon with news of the week and some practical suggestions for supporting your child's learning at home.

Supporting Your Child

Each week our Reception newsletter will suggest some practical activities which you could complete with your child over the weekend. These activities will help to support your child's current learning within the class and will also further strengthen the home/school links which we feel are so important to establish at the beginning of the children's school life. Now that Acorn Class are settled in Reception, we do ask that they try to complete the suggested weekend activity, bringing it in to school the following Monday so that we can celebrate their work as a class.
